Why a Thai Notarial Services Attorney?
Thailand is not a member of the Hague Apostille Convention. This means that documents executed in Thailand for use abroad — or foreign documents brought into Thailand for legal use — must go through a different legalization chain than countries with Apostille.
The Thai equivalent of a Notary Public is the Notarial Services Attorney, licensed by the Lawyers Council of Thailand under royal decree. Only attorneys who pass the official notarial examination and hold an active license may notarize documents for international use.
Our attorneys are licensed, and we coordinate the full chain — notarization, MFA legalization (Chaeng Watthana), and destination embassy attestation — so foreign clients receive a single point of contact in English (or 40+ other languages).

Answers tailored to US, UK, JP, KR, CN, EU, India and GCC clients living in or visiting Thailand.
🇺🇸 American (US)I'm a US citizen in Thailand — can a Thai notary legalize my document for use back in the US?
Yes. A Thai Notarial Services Attorney signs and seals the document, then the Thailand MFA legalizes it, then the US Embassy in Bangkok attests it. The US accepts this chain in lieu of Apostille (Thailand is not a Hague signatory). Common documents: Affidavit, Power of Attorney, real-estate signatures, IRS / FBAR support letters.
🇬🇧 British (UK)How do I notarize a UK Power of Attorney while living in Bangkok?
Bring the draft POA (or we prepare one in UK form), sign in front of our notary, then we route through MFA + UK Embassy Bangkok. The UK does not require an Apostille from Thailand because Thailand is non-Hague — embassy attestation is the accepted equivalent. Turnaround 5–10 business days.
🇩🇪 German / EUWhy can't I just get an Apostille on a document signed in Thailand?
Thailand has not joined the Hague Apostille Convention. Therefore documents executed in Thailand cannot receive an Apostille — they must instead go through Thai notary → MFA Chaeng Watthana → destination country embassy in Bangkok. EU embassies (DE, FR, IT, ES, NL) accept this chain as the legal equivalent.
🇮🇳 Indian / 🇸🇦 GCCDo I need MEA / MOFA attestation in addition to Thai legalization?
Yes for documents originating in Thailand and intended for India or GCC countries: after Thai notary + Thai MFA, you also need attestation at the destination embassy in Bangkok (Indian Embassy / Saudi Embassy / UAE Embassy etc.). For documents originating in India/GCC and used in Thailand, MEA/MOFA attestation must be done first in the origin country, then re-attested by the Thai MFA.
Frequently asked questions
Is Thai Notary Public valid abroad?
Yes — Thai Notarial Services Attorneys are licensed by the Lawyers Council of Thailand under royal decree. Documents are accepted abroad after MFA legalization + destination embassy attestation. Thailand is NOT a Hague Apostille signatory, so the embassy step replaces apostille.
How long does the full chain take?
Notary: 1–3 business days. MFA: 1–3 business days. Embassy: 1–14 days depending on country. Total: typically 5–14 business days. Express service available.
Do you support languages other than English?
Yes — we provide certified translation in 40+ languages including JA, KO, ZH, AR, RU, DE, FR, ES, IT, NL, PT, VN, MY, KH, LA, MM and more.
Can I send documents from abroad?
Yes — courier your original documents to our Bangkok office. We notarize, legalize, and ship back via DHL/FedEx worldwide.
What is the cost?
Notary: from 1,500 THB per document. MFA: 200 THB/doc + service. Embassy fees vary (US$30–US$150 typical). We provide an itemized quote upfront.
Do I need to be present?
For signature notarization: yes (in-person or video call where accepted). For true copy / corporate / translation: no, documents can be couriered.
Which embassies do you cover?
All embassies/consulates in Bangkok — US, UK, AU, JP, KR, CN, IN, DE, FR, IT, NL, RU, ZA, SG, MY, VN, PH, and more.
Do you handle Apostille?
Thailand is non-Hague, so traditional Apostille is unavailable. We provide the equivalent: MFA legalization + embassy attestation. For destination-country Apostille (on documents issued there), we coordinate via partners.
Can you help with Thai marriage / divorce abroad?
Yes — we notarize Affidavit of Single Status, prepare Affirmation for Marriage, and handle full embassy chain for marriage registration abroad.
Are you licensed?
Yes — our attorneys hold the Notarial Services Attorney license from the Lawyers Council of Thailand. License numbers are listed on each attorney profile.
