Who needs a PCC, and when
The Police Clearance Certificate is required by immigration authorities and home offices of many countries for long-term visa or permanent-residence applicants to prove no Thai criminal record. The Australian Department of Home Affairs requires it of anyone who has lived in Thailand for 12+ continuous months at any point from age 16 onward — most other major destinations follow similar rules.
Required destinations and visa classes: Australia (Skilled 189/190, Partner 309/100 and 820/801, Parent 143, Subclass 887); Canada (Express Entry, PR Sponsorship, long-term Work Permit); New Zealand (Skilled Migrant, Partner, Parent); USA (Immigrant Visa, Adjustment of Status); UK (Spouse, Skilled Worker); Germany (Aufenthaltserlaubnis, Niederlassungserlaubnis); France (long-term Carte de Séjour); Netherlands (MVV); Sweden, Norway, Iceland; Singapore (PR); Hong Kong (Resident Visa); UAE (some Golden Visa categories).
Many clients assume they don't need it because they're not Thai — incorrect. Even foreigners who lived in Thailand for over 12 months at any point must obtain a Thai PCC, in addition to PCCs from their home and other countries of residence. Omitting it causes visa holds or refusals.
