Thai government documents requiring translation for overseas use
Every Thai government document is issued in Thai. To be valid abroad — visas, study, marriage, inheritance, court submissions — three steps are mandatory: (1) translation by a qualified translator, (2) certification by a Notarial Services Attorney, (3) MFA + destination-embassy legalization.
Categories: civil registration (birth, death, house registration, ID, marriage/divorce, name-change, single-status Kor.Ror.2/3); education (transcripts, degrees, credential evaluations); labour (employment letters, social-security records, professional licenses); medical (Medical Council–certified licenses); criminal (Royal Thai Police PCC); and business (DBD company affidavits, BOJ.5, VAT cert., audited financials).
Often-missed point: every English name on a translation must match the passport exactly — one wrong letter and the destination authority will reject it. We check name spelling three times before certifying.
