Complete guide: Thai Police Clearance Certificate

What type of PCC does Mexico require?

Mexico requires MFA legalization followed by attestation at the สถานทูตเม็กซิโก. Every certificate we ship carries the issuing authority's full stamp and signature, certified translation by an MFA-recognized translator, MFA consular legalization, and สถานทูตเม็กซิโก attestation when required.

Mexico visas commonly requiring PCC

Temporary Resident. All long-stay visas above require a PCC from every country where the applicant lived for 6–12 months or more during the past 5–10 years. Our finished certificate is ready to file immediately after the legalization chain is complete.

Workflow for clients already in Mexico

(1) Sign and have the PoA legalized at the Thai embassy in Mexico. (2) Ship originals and copies to our Thailand team. (3) We process the criminal records check, fingerprinting via FBI FD-258 or the Thai embassy. (4) Translation + MFA legalization + สถานทูตเม็กซิโก attestation. (5) DHL/FedEx ships back to Mexico in 7–15 days — total 15–30 days from dispatch.

Total cost shipping to Mexico

Bundled cost shipping to Mexico ranges THB 6,000–15,000 depending on number of copies, translation language, and legalization level (MFA only vs. สถานทูตเม็กซิโก attestation). Postage ~ THB 2,500. Request a precise bundled quote anytime.

Translating the PCC into English and the destination language

Applications must be made at the Criminal Records Division (CRD), Building 7, Royal Thai Police HQ, Rama I Road, or via the People's Background Check Center, Forensic Science Police Office. The five core steps: (1) book online at pcscenter.sb.police.go.th, (2) prepare original and copy documents, (3) attend the 10-fingerprint scan, (4) pay the THB 100–200 government fee, (5) wait 7–15 business days standard or 3–5 days for express.

MFA consular legalization process at the Department of Consular Affairs

Required documents: original Thai national ID card, two copies of the ID, two copies of the house registration, original passport plus copies of the photo page and entry/exit stamps, every name-change certificate (if any), marriage/divorce certificate (if any), the completed application form, an invitation or purpose letter from the destination authority (embassy, employer, school), and — for representation — a Power of Attorney with a THB 30 stamp duty plus the representative's ID copy.

Submitting to the destination embassy and processing times

CRD government fees are THB 100 for the Thai-language certificate and THB 200 for the English version. Standard processing 7–15 business days; express 3–5 days. Our service fee covers document running, off-site fingerprinting, coordination, translation, MFA legalization, and embassy attestation — bundled from THB 4,000 depending on destination country and number of copies.

How to appoint our team via Power of Attorney

The police PCC alone is valid only inside Thailand. To use it overseas, two more steps are required: (1) translation by an MFA-recognized translator, and (2) consular legalization at the Department of Consular Affairs (MFA), then optionally embassy attestation. This is Thailand's legalization chain — Thailand has not joined the Hague Apostille Convention 1961, so true apostille is not available.

Common reasons applications get rejected or delayed

An authentic certificate carries the Garuda emblem, the Royal Thai Police logo, the applicant's name in Thai and English, national ID number, date of birth, nationality, purpose of application, the result (clear / not clear with detail), the signature of the Commander of the CRD, and the office's blue seal. The reference number can be verified with the CRD.

PCC for foreign nationals living in Thailand

Translation must be done by a translator registered with the MFA Department of Consular Affairs or otherwise recognized by them. The translation must mirror the original — dates, reference numbers, signatory name, and result. For Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, French, or Arabic, we offer in-house translation followed by MFA legalization.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Can a foreigner's Thai PCC be used in their home country?
Yes after MFA and home-country embassy legalization. Common for foreign PR or returning home.
How far back does the police check go?
All registered criminal cases since legal adulthood.
If I changed my name, do I declare the old one?
Yes — list every former name on the form and attach all name-change certificates so the CRD can search completely.
How long does the Thai Police Clearance take?
Standard 7–15 business days at the CRD, plus 2–10 days for MFA and embassy — total 10–25 days. Same-day express is available case-by-case.
What are the government fees?
THB 100 for the Thai version, THB 200 for the English version. MFA legalization is THB 200 (standard) or THB 400 (express) per document.
Can someone request the PCC on my behalf?
Yes, with a Power of Attorney bearing a THB 30 stamp duty and ID copies of both parties. The applicant must still attend the fingerprinting once.
Can Thais abroad request a Thai PCC?
Yes — sign a PoA at a Thai embassy abroad, ship the documents to us, and fingerprint via the Thai embassy or the FBI FD-258 form.
How long is a PCC valid?
Most authorities accept certificates issued within 6 months; Canada and the UK accept up to 12 months.
Why do I need MFA and embassy legalization?
Thailand is not part of the Hague Apostille Convention. Overseas use requires the chain Police → MFA → destination embassy.
What if my record is not clear?
Our lawyers review the case. Minor expired offences may qualify for record erasure under the Criminal Records Act.
